All the flyable planes are great...but my personal favourite is the F15C
Eagle...love that American Iron!

| Hugh Jeego Posted: Nov 29 2003, 01:06 AM | Ahhh, we don't get this until 1st December, but I better not buy it in case it's coming my way for Christmas
Been looking forward to it for some time. The sceen shot looks very good. The aircaft model looks so close to photographic |
| D'Orleans Posted: Nov 29 2003, 07:13 AM | I'm sure you will like it Hugh...it was worth the wait! Quite a few folks have reported problems on systems much more advanced than mine which leads me to wonder if bigger really is better I haven't had any big probs running LOMAC all week...no freeze ups, no CTD's AMD1700+ ATI 9700 Pro 128 Catalyst 3.9 drivers 768mb ram DX9 XP Pro OS A couple more screenies of a Russian Su33 with heat blur effect on... | VAdmiralRob Posted: Nov 29 2003, 07:20 AM | hmm looks impressive, cant say i am a big flight sim fan, last game that i enjoyed which involved areoplanes was Knights of the Sky which was great fun maybe it is I am more happy with slower technology;)
|
| D'Orleans Posted: Nov 29 2003, 08:50 AM | I haven't played Knights of the Skies...but I have enjoyed hundreds of hours with Red Baron 3D, (WW1 flight sim). Was fairly proficient with the Sopwith Camel
I think it's fantastic experiencing different genres in strategy/simulation games... LOMAC: Doing 1300+ knots under 100 ft makes your palms sweat and you get a very good impression of speed indeed...in fly by mode breaking the sound barrier is very impressive Red Baron 3D: struggling to get up to 75 knots..furious dog fights with the Huns AOS2: 18th century sail... .5 to 9 knots on a good day...relaxing at first, then every bit as intensive as LOMAC at close quarters! Cheers |
| D'Orleans Posted: Nov 29 2003, 09:42 AM | OK...just a few more screenies of various things in LOMAC...I just can't help myself!! But I promise this is it...
RCAF Hercules & CF18:(AI controlled) RCAF: CF18's: ![]() German Mig 29 aerobatic team: German M29 on the ground:Photo but above screenie is close no? This post has been edited by D'Orleans on Nov 29 2003, 09:45 AM |
| Hugh Jeego Posted: Nov 29 2003, 01:50 PM | Excellent pics, D'Orleans
I am impressed with Il 2 Forgotten Battles, and for WW1 flying I have the Combat Aces add on for CFS 2, which is pretty good. I do have Strike Fighters, which is good (well, good enough for me, I like the old Phantom ). Pity about the bugs, but I got the UK version which was at leats patched up enough to fly with no obvious glitches. Except for the inability to crash with your undercarriage extended. Nowhere near good enough to try flying online, though |
| D'Orleans Posted: Nov 29 2003, 03:44 PM | I have Strike Fighters also. I LOVE the Vietnam era fighters. My favourite is F4B, but also F100 Super Saber and F104 Star Fighter. It's sad to think there may be no more "official" patches for SFP1...maybe there will be...but I dunno... The 3rd party community comes through with MiG 19's, 21's and my very favourite fighter of all time, (don't ask me why), the Vought A7 Corsair Guns,Guns,Guns |
| Talon69 Posted: Nov 30 2003, 06:17 PM | what game is this? |
| Hugh Jeego Posted: Dec 1 2003, 10:46 AM | It's Lock On: Modern Air Combat.
|
| Marion van Ghent Posted: Dec 1 2003, 11:04 AM | Those screens make my jaw drop. I'm only a casual aviation buff (partial to either ultra-modern or WWI era)... but all I can say to that is... "Mommy..."
|
| ParaBellum IRN Posted: Dec 1 2003, 11:32 AM | Really great screenshots! I want to play this game! D'Orleans, does this game support multiplayer? P.S. Privet, Marion, how are you? Glad to see you in forum again! This post has been edited by ParaBellum IRN on Dec 1 2003, 11:33 AM |
| D'Orleans Posted: Dec 1 2003, 12:06 PM | Yes it supports multiplay. Not sure of max number of players though..32 in theory I believe..but I would wait on upcoming patch before trying more than 8 or so. I haven't tried MP yet, still learning the ol' avionics
Many people are finding Lock On in western europe now so many more will be playing soon. It's playable both on UBI servers and Hyperlobby has just been adapted for it as well.. |
| VAdmiralRob Posted: Dec 2 2003, 02:59 AM | Oh for graphics like that with WW1 flight Sims!!!
The last time I tried to pilot a Jet plane in a flight sime I was put of by the complexity of take off I just ended up ploughing the damn thing into the control tower and blowing up. Still I get to go to see th real things ever few months at Duxford, as It is part of the Imperial War Museum and I have do work there, my next trip is this month:) Plus I have both WW1 and WW2 planes hanfging less then 30 feet from my office:) a Camel, a Neiuport, a spitfire, and a Me109:) I love my job |
| D'Orleans Posted: Dec 2 2003, 09:21 AM | You're lucky Rob! I would love to see that myself. As for crashing I've done that too many times to count!!
Here's one more of a Ukranian SU25 Frogfoot having a little cluster bomb fun vs an Israeli armour column.. Lock On includes a very good mission editor so you can set up all sorts of hypothetical events...like me vs Israeli's for example. You can also create campaigns with it This post has been edited by D'Orleans on Dec 2 2003, 09:39 AM |
| Hugh Jeego Posted: Dec 5 2003, 10:46 AM | Yay, I bought it today!
Here, for some reason, it's called "Lock On: Air Combat Simulation". No idea why the change of name, but it's the same game. The sad thing is, I won't get to load it, yet alone play, until; Sunday, most likely. Still, something to look forward to |
| Hugh Jeego Posted: Mar 11 2004, 03:10 PM | Just got "Battle over Europe" add-on for Il2 -FB.
Wow, those big boxes of B17s. WOW! Flying escort to a big formation is just breathtaking. Amazing add-on. |
| Lazyjack Posted: Mar 12 2004, 11:38 AM | My PC is too weak for IL-2
, but I love "European Air War"
Imagine: Sneaking with a FW-190 into a compact B-17 formation and ALWAYS trembling and sweating because of all those "Mustangs" hunting you merciless... |
| Hugh Jeego Posted: Mar 12 2004, 12:58 PM | It's a pity you can't play Il-2, Lazyjack. It really does beat just about any other WW2 flight sim out there.
Looks like there will be a Battle Of Britain version of Il2 in the near future. Maybe you should upgrade that PC if you can |
| JC White Posted: Mar 21 2004, 02:00 AM | OH D'O OUtstanding........ I was into the WW2 flight sim and playen in Warbirds on line. Its been a while. Got pretty good at flying the Corsiar thats the F4u off a carrier and landing. But this is AWESOME
